KARACHI:

A retired employee of Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority was attacked by a stranger who threw a liquid at him when he answered the door on Monday.

Fifty-nine-year-old Abdul Hai used to work with the ministry of science and technology.

The incident took place at Asaish Appartments in Block 16 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar. The attacker escaped. Hai was taken to a private hospital where he was pronounced dead. Later, the body was taken to Jinnah hospital. Parts of his skin and clothes were sent for chemical examination. The police suspect that personal enmity might be the reason for the attack but Hai had no affiliation with any political or religious party. He was the father of three.
