Lahore High Court Chief Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed issued a notice to the Ministry of Interior and Pakistan Rangers for April 26 on a petition filed by a rangers inspector regarding his demotion. Inspector Kamran Asghar submitted that in 1992 as an SP in the Rangers he had arrested two criminals in Sindh. He said according to the rules, he was entitled to Rs1.8 million as a reward and he had filed a claim at the Ministry of Interior. He said he had filed many reminders but had not received back a single response. He said the authorities had instead demoted him to the rank inspector in grade 16 from a superintendent in grade 18. He said he was posted at Sialkot and the Lahore High Court had jurisdiction to hear the case. He prayed the court to issue directions to the authorities to reinstate him according to the law and also give him a cash award of Rs1.8 million.
