Ephedrine Quota Scam: Official sent on 14-day judicial remand

The scam surfaced last week when ANF officials informed the SC about the fraud.

RAWALPINDI: A senior official of the health department arrested for illegal allocation and manipulation of quota to import a chemical was sent on a 14-day judicial remand on Saturday. Deputy Director Drugs Abdul Sattar Mirani was sent to Adiala Jail and will be produced before the court on April 20. The scam surfaced last week when ANF officials informed the SC that the quota of the chemical ephedrine worth Rs7 billion was given to two pharmaceutical companies through manipulation on the pressure of a VVIP personality.
