Anti-dengue campaign: PMA to organise ‘marathon’ on Friday

The campaign slogan is Dengue: darna nahi hai larna hai (Don’t be scared of dengue, fight it).

LAHORE: Programme for the anti-dengue Lahore Marathon on Friday, which will be organised by the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), has been finalised. The marathon is part of PMA’s campaign against dengue fever. The campaign slogan is Dengue: darna nahi hai larna hai (Don’t be scared of dengue, fight it). The marathon will start at 8 am from Race Course Park. The participants will run up to Siddique Trade Centre on Main Boulevard and then turn back, said PMA general secretary Dr Izhar Chaudhry. Participants will be given breakfast, free giveaways, gift hampers and certificates of appreciation. The event will end with a concert. During the event, PMA officials will distribute pamphlets and brochures containing information about preventive measures. There will be four categories in the marathon: men, women, elderly and doctors. Winners will get Rs10,000 in cash, the runner up Rs5,000 and second runner up will get Rs1,000. Registration desks have been set up at the Race Course Park entrance gate, PMA House Lahore (66 Ferozepur Road) and also at the Liberty Market Roundabout. Banners and posters have been displayed all over the city in collaboration with the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), Dr Izhar said.
