Already in police service as a constable and resident of village Salyhani in taluka Ratodero, the home of two former prime ministers, Muhammad Taigal Junejo qualified in written as well as physical test in 1995, but he is still fighting for his right to be appointed as Assistant Sub-Inspector in Sindh Police.
His petition, filed in 2008, came up for hearing on Thursday before a division bench of Sindh High Court which inquired from Additional Advocate General (AAG) Sindh , Adnan Karim Memon, that whether order of the court passed on December 24, 2008 was complied or not.
As the AAG sought more time to place documents on record showing that the 2008 order has been complied with, the bench comprising Justice Shahid Anwar Bajwa and Justice Nisar Muhammad Shaikh adjourned further proceedings to an unspecified date ordering that “in case of non-implementation, DIG Establishment shall appear before court in person on next date of hearing.”
The petitioner citing the provincial home secretary, Sindh police chief and others as respondents maintained that finding himself eligible for the post advertised in 1995, he applied for the job and qualified all tests. He was placed on serial number 273 of the merit list but later he was denied a job.
A division bench on December 24, 2008 while disposing off a petition by the petitioner along with a number of other petitions ordered Sindh police to examine whether the petitioners were physically fit for appointment to the posts in question and if they are found then letter of appointment be issued to them in 30 days.
