LAHORE:

PML-N candidate Nuzhat Sadiq’s nomination for the Senate election on seat reserved for women has been challenged with the allegation of a false declaration. The returning officer has been charged with ignoring deficiencies in her nomination papers.

“I have filed an application before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and challenged Sadiq’s false statement of assets and liabilities,” said Advocate Shahid Pervaiz Jami. He said that a superficial scrutiny had been done on Sadiq’s papers. The lawyer said Sadiq had submitted the wealth statement of her husband which was completely irrelevant. Jami said that in the statement of assets and liabilities, Sadiq had written ‘as per attached’ in each column and given no description of assets or property or their cost and present value.

He said Sadiq’s income tax return for 2011 was not attached. Sadiq denied making any false documents. She said that her form checked at the chief minister’s house before it was filed. Jami said he also intends to challenge the asset declarations of Aitzaz Ahsan, Babar Awan, Zafarullah Dhandla and Sirdar Zulfiqar Khan Khosa on Monday.

He said that Khosa had mentioned his Higher Senior Cambridge (HSC) but according to college records, Khosa had not completed his HSC.
