After Baba Ladla’s cousin killed, fighting erupts in Lyari

The neighbourhood turned violent after Zubair alias Vehshi’s body was found off Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai Road.

Five people were injured on Sunday as violence erupted in Lyari after the killing of a notorious gangster on Saturday night.


The neighbourhood turned violent after Zubair alias Vehshi’s body was found off Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai Road. Zubair was wanted by the police in dozens of cases, which included murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, extortion, police encounters. He was the cousin of Baba Ladla, the chief operational commander of Rehman Dakait’s group. Zubair was also considered the right hand man of Baba Ladla.

He had gone to Al-Falah Road in Bihar Colony, which is the stronghold of the rival Kutchis.

Following his killing there was an attack on members of the Kutchi Rabita Committee at Al-Falah Road. Four of them were shot and injured. Their names were Imtiaz, Hanif, Yousuf and Kamran, and they were taken to Civil hospital. Ismail Qureshi, the vice president of the Kutchi Rabita Committee’s Saddar chapter, was shot and killed at the tonga stand in Lea Market.
