A security guard and a woman killed, two others injured in Nazimabad area.
KARACHI: A security guard and a woman were killed when unidentified gunmen opened fire at Telenor’s franchise in the Nazimabad area of Karachi on Tuesday, reported Express News.
Three other people sustained injuries in the incident and have been shifted to a hospital.
The police reached the franchise to investigate into the incident. SP North Nazimabad Chaudhry Asad said that four men came to the franchise on two motorcycles and opened fire at it with 9mm pistols.
The police said that it was planned attack.
The attacks on mobile franchises have been on the rise in the city. Last year in December, two people died when two men opened fire at a Telenor outlet Shahra-e-Noorjahan.
In other incident earlier this year, a Mobilink outlet was targeted and an explosive device was used in the attack in the Hyderi area of North Nazimabad.
Although the Crime Investigation Department (CID) has arrested a man they said was responsible for the franchise attacks they had also warned that there might be more.
Meanwhile, a man lost his life when gunmen reportedly opened fire at a passenger bus at Nagan Chowrangi of the North Nazimabad area of Karachi.
SP Asad, talking to media, denied the media reports and said that the bus, numbered 4k, had hit three motorcycles resulting in the incident.
“There was no firing incident,” he said while adding that the bus has been taken to the police station and the injured shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
“Although the Crime Investigation Department (CID) has arrested a man they said was responsible for the franchise attacks they had also warned that there might be more.”
They issued the warning because they didn’t really catch the people behind the attacks, just charged someone who was innocent with an unsolved crime like they always do… why should there be any surprise about continued attacks… besides, this is probably not the taliban attacking these places, just extortion mafias.. killings start again in Karachi.

In last two months this is probably the 4th or 5th attack on mobile company franchises. First telenor than mobilink than warid and then again telenor etc.
Will the gov and police kindly bother to tell the citizens whats going actually. Obviously this sudden attack isnt for NO reason.

Attacking mobile franchises with no ‘apparent’ motives other than just to kill the people at the franchise reminds one as to how low we have stooped as a nation.I mean, there are people amongst us who attack franchises killing people without even looking for money.Strange and horrifying simultaneously. What is the purpose of such an act,one can only wonder.Recommend
true pakistanis cannot do such things, they must be migrated Indians during separation

@ adnan How on earth you know for certain that bhatta mafia ( pata nhe kahan kahan sy nam sun lyty haan) involve in this. I live in this area for 25 year and I know the ground situation. first attack took place in shadman town on telenor outlet nearby there is a jama masjid. and ppl who know this area will know for wht this jama masjid is famous for….. and if you want to know just go there just stand front of the masjid and you will know. All three attacks took place in 2 km range of the same area. there are religious extremist behind this because they think telenor is from Norway, Denmark , cartoon issue, they make a connection with that thinking they are all the same…. And I guess everyone knows what police can / cannot do sooooooooo For God Sake bro ….. if you dnt know some think silence is batter.Recommend

That is the most idiotic garb which I heard from anyone. The people whom you are refering to are infact the only ‘true’ Pakistanis.Had it not been for AQ Khan who belongs to the same category to which you are hell-bent on labelling as ‘traitors’,India would have been dictating terms. The community which you are labelling as ‘untrue’ has been the major contributor towards Pakistan’s progress. The examples of Edhi,Agha Hasan Abedi,Raziuddin Siddique are few examples of a big lot from the same ‘migrated people’.Moreover,Jinnah was also from the same community. So if you are getting my point,do your research and think at least twice before writing. As far as I can see, whatever the CCTV footages provide, the culprits seem to be always of the same type-clothing,appearance,-as of a certain area of North. And what I say is evidence based rather than the random, illogical rant which you have shown out of sheer hatred.I hope that you got what I said.

It seems that since franchises with standardized policies across the country are the only ones who would try to flex their muscle against extortion (bhatta)…as a result they are being targeted
