Shot dead: Policeman gunned down

Ali was on his way from work to offer Isha at the mosque near the police check post when he was shot.

A police constable identified as 46-year-old Yousuf Ali was shot dead near Khaliq Deena Hall on MA Jinnah Road on Friday night, said the Aram Bagh police.


The incident took place when Ali was on his way from work to offer Isha at the mosque near the police check post.

The police said that men on a motorcycle opened fire at him. He died on the spot and was taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi.

Sources in the police claim that he was shot in the chest and head.

DSP Ali Asif told The Express Tribune that Ali was shot six times and the suspects managed to escape.

Ali lived in Khawaja Ajmer Nagri and was working at the Aram Bagh police station for the last nine months.

The DSP said that it was a target killing case. He added that it was too early to comment on the motive behind the murder.  No case was registered when this report was filed.
