KARACHI: The Anti-Human Trafficking Cell of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claims to have detained four men allegedly involved in issuing fake Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) in raids on three NADRA offices.

The offices of the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) at Awami Markaz, Nazimabad and Korangi were raided on Friday. Sher Dil Badshah, Tajuddin Moosani, Mujahid Hussain and Idrees Ahmed were caught by the FIA.

The assistant director of the cell, Chaudhry Sohail Faiz, said that many people complained to them that they were being given fake receipts for identity cards by NADRA agents. Faiz said that the federal interior ministry will also look into the matter.

The officer also said that they found hundreds of fake receipts from the agents they detained and are trying to find out if they were working together with NADRA officials.

He said that if any employee of NADRA was found involved then he will also be arrested.
