‘Fighting corruption’: Senior PPP-S leader quits party, joins PTI

PESHAWAR: Yet another political party waved farewell to a member when Mohammad Amir Khan Khalil Mullazai of Pakistan Peoples Party-Sherpao (PPP-S) announced that he was joining Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday. Amir was the Peshawar district organiser of the PPP-S, and is a close relative of party chairman Aftab Ahmed Sherpao.
Flanked by his father Muhammad Ayaz Khan Mullazai and Khawaja Mohammad Khan Hoti, who recently joined PTI after resigning from the Awami National Party (ANP), Amir said that certain ‘self-interested people’ have grouped within PPP-S and were damaging the party.
Amir, who contested elections on the PF-7 seat of the provincial assembly, said that committed PPP-S workers were forced to work under opportunists and in such a situation, PTI chief Imran Khan offered the only ray of hope.
Hoti also spoke at the press conference, saying: “I raised my voice against corruption inside the assembly and Imran is now raising his voice and we have joined forces”. He declared that it was Transparency International, and not himself, who had proclaimed Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to be the most corrupt province.
Hoti added that it was the coalition government’s performance which was forcing people to join PTI ‘in droves’.

Good to see honest politicians joining PTI for the interest of the country.
I haven’t seen a legitimate accusation of corruption on seasoned politicians joining PTI. But Imran also needs to think about their leadership potential to bring change when he filters them under the scrutiny team.

Not a big loss for PPP-S which was a one man show anyway. There was no hope to remain in PPP-S group. They have only one seat just like the old PTI and it would still be their.

It’s starting to seem that people are merely joining because of the lack of foundation in PTI’s setup and policies. They weren’t getting the power/attention they wanted in their previous parties so now they’re making the “first come, first serve” dashes for positions in PTI.

and yes, all the people will argue, that these new joinees were un-corrupt, angels. they don’t even know what corruption means. whate ever.

IK must imperativily scrutanize his new joinees irrelevent of their seasonedness.Khurshed Qasuri has been extremely corrupt foreign minister of Pakistani history yet he has been given an honourable wellcome to PTI.i don,t know what Ik really means by corruption?Recommend
As far as I am aware, Mohammad Amir Khan Khalil was neither a ‘senior’ leader of PPP(S) nor a ‘close’ relative of Mr. Sherpao. PPP(S) has been making good ground throughout the province and in Peshawar in particular where many notable political figures have joined the party. It appears that Mr. Khalil was feeling sidelined or ignored in some manner which led him to jump on the PTI bandwagon like every other opportunist. Certainly not a loss for PPP(S) as Mr. Khalil did not have any sort of a personal vote bank. In the 2008 elections he got just over 1000 votes despit other candidates of the party doing much better in other parts of Peshawar.
