MANSEHRA: The city police arrested two suspects in a gang rape case and obtained their physical remand from the court of judicial magistrate on Sunday.

Shahida Bibi*, a resident of Lohar Banda village, went missing on November 25. Her father Iftikhar* lodged an FIR with the City Police Station that he was out. When he returned, his 18-year-old daughter was missing, along with Rs80,000 in cash.

On Saturday evening, Bibi reached the police station and accused Dilawar Khan* of abducting her and taking her to a house in Hasanabdal, where she was allegedly gang-raped by Ashraf* and two unknown men for several days.

She also accused Khan of snatching Rs80,000 from her, adding that she was set free on the condition of staying silent over the issue.

According to Mansehra Investigation Wing Incharge Abdul Waheed Tanoli, the police arrested Khan on Saturday and he was sent on physical remand by the magistrate. On Sunday, Ashraf was arrested and the police have obtained his two-day physical remand. He said that Bibi’s medical reports had confirmed that she had been raped. Tanoli said that the victim’s family has been provided with three months ration on the instructions of the chief minister.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister (CM) Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has taken note of the incident and ordered the district administration to immediately arrest the remaining suspects, said a government press release. *Names changed to protect identity
