Mobile financial services: Tajik bankers visit central bank

Tajikistan delegation briefed by SBP Executive Director.

KARACHI: A visiting National Bank of Tajikistan delegation on Friday visited the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and was briefed by SBP Executive Director Muhammad Ashraf Khan on challenges, opportunities of financial inclusion and different policy measures the central bank has undertaken to foster mobile financial services in the country. The visit facilitated by SBP Development Finance Group was sponsored by M/s Deutsche Gesellschaft fürInternationale Zusammenarbeit GIZ - German International Cooperation under its Regional Program in Support of Microfinance in Central Asia to draw up a road map for starting mobile financial services in Tajikistan. The purpose was to understand regulatory framework for microfinance sector, mobile financial services, issues of supervision of agents, technological requirements, legislative provisions for payment system, oversight of electronic banking and experience of pilot financial institutions.
