LAHORE: An accountability court on Friday convicted Seema Munawar, the former Additional Advocate General Punjab and daughter to LHC Justice late Munawer Elahi, on charges of withdrawing her father's pension by showing her status as unmarried while she was a divorcee.

Judge Mian Mureed Hussain awarded a three-year jail term to Munawar and imposed of a fine of Rs3.9 million. In case she defaulted in her paying her fine, she would face an additional six-months imprisonment.

As per case details, NAB Punjab had accused Seema of withdrawing pension of her father by showing her status unmarried while she was a divorcee. She had withdrawn an amount of Rs3.9 million as pension. She had managed to secure bail from LHC. On Friday, the court after hearing the final arguments of both the parties convicted Seema and sent her to jail.

The convict implored the court to contact LHC in a bid to get relief but the judge declined her plea.
