FAISALABAD:

District coordination officer (DCO) Naseem Sadiq has directed concerned officers to keep a strict check on any violations of the Marriage Act in Faisalabad.

“Immediate legal action should be taken against the people violating the one dish clause regarding wedding ceremonies,” the DCO said. Taking notice of dozens of public complaints he said that despite clear directions to monitor the meals served at wedding, frequent violations of the Marriage Act continued to occur in restaurants and in public places.

In a letter the DCO asked all assistant commissioners (ACs) and tehsil municipal administrators (TMA) to conduct raids on marriages halls and restaurants in this regard. “Violations are most likely to occur on Friday and Sunday and officials will monitor any violations. Food containers should be confiscated in case of any violations of the one dish clause,” he said. The DCO asked that raiding teams submit their reports on a daily basis.

One dish menu is one of the few things that our government has done that truly reflects the spirit of Islam and Pakistan.
