KARACHI: Around 22 wind energy projects across the country are being developed by the Alternative Energy Development Board. Each project will produce around 50 mega-watts (MW) of power each. A board official said that 11 developers have completed feasibility studies and six independent power producers have obtained licenses to generate power from the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority. Guaranteed electricity purchase, attractive tariffs, a relaxation on import duties are the incentives to encourage the development of wind power. About 346,000 MWs can be produced throughout the country and part of the projects are spread across the Sindh coastline.
