LOWER DIR: Two people were killed in a cross-border attack from Afghanistan into Pakistani territory in Lower Dir on Saturday, reported Express 24/7.

Sources say Afghan militants fired five mortars which struck Kharkai village in Lower Dir.

The mortars hit several houses in the village, killing two locals and injuring another two. However, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has not confirmed the attack.

Tension continues in the border areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan along the tribal areas as cross-border attacks mounted by Afghan militants have increased in the past few months.

Pakistan has lodged protests against the attack with the Afghan government over the attacks.

How times have changed ? Earlier, whenever you read the words "Cross Border Attacks" in Indian or Pakistani papers, you knew it would refer to clashes between India and Pakistan only and occasionally Pakistan and Iran. Now, when you read "Cross Border Attacks" in Pakistani newspapers it often refers to clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan and occasionally clashes between Pakistan and China.
