Performing Arts: Dramafest 2011 from Oct 14

Dramaline, the LUMS dramatics society founded 25 years ago, started Dramafest four years ago.

LAHORE: The dramatics society at the Lahore University of Management Sciences is organising a three-day drama festival from October 14 which will feature performances by students from 20 schools across the country. Students from the National College of Arts, Ghulam Ishak Khan Institute, Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture and the Foundation for Advancement of Science and Technology (FAST) will perform at Dramafest 2011, to an audience of 4,000 people, said organisers. Dramaline, the LUMS dramatics society founded 25 years ago, started Dramafest four years ago. It drew 3,000 people last year. “The event aims to encourage students to show their creativity and win appreciation for their efforts in promoting performing arts in Pakistan,” said Farwa Qasim, the media director of Dramafest 2011. The best performances will be rewarded in a closing ceremony at the conclusion of the event on October 16.
