ZAGREB: Croatian police Wednesday said they had arrested 16 illegal immigrants from Afghanistan and Pakistan, half of them minors, when they were trying to cross the border hidden in a trailer.

The 16 men aged between 15 and 31 were found on a northwestern border crossing in the trailer of a truck with Serbian registration plates, a police statement said.

The HINA news agency said the immigrants boarded the trailer in Greece and were hidden between bags of flour.

Croatia lies on a Balkans route often used by criminals to smuggle people, drugs and weapons into the European Union.

when ur house set on fire, that what you have got to do..had there been peace, who would risk their life, treat like slave and live their whole life awaiting for salvation.. i have met so many people (from south asians, africans,)during my europe stay, and each story is just terrifying to hear..,one men just flushed his passport at the airport ,after gaining tourist visa and said he dont know which country he belong too, and doesnt reveal his citizenship

incidentally i just watched shawshank redemption, and it remains how people await many many years to get away from the cages. like in the movie, morgan freeman said, somebirds cant be caged, as they got brighter feathers..sad but true.., greetings from India

Croatia has done the right thing.
In no time these immigrants will ask for seperate ‘Croatistan’.
    Other EU countries be aware.
