Sukkur’s SSP had been expecting an attack, which is why a heavy contingent of police, led by Pannu Aquil’s SHO, Jawed Alam Abro, promptly arrived at the spot. During an exchange of fire between the police and attackers, a trader, Dharmo Mal, and a police constable, Shahzado, were injured. The SHO told The Express Tribune that two of the attackers were shot dead and the police have been successful in pushing back the attackers.
Pannu Aquil’s Hindus had also been fearing a backlash from the tragic incident and they kept their businesses shut Thursday, however, the suspected Kalhoro clansmen managed to torch three of their shops. The SHO said that the firing between the police and the attackers is ongoing, but it has lost its intensity.
The tragic incident began on Wednesday, when a seven-year-old Kalhoro girl was on her way home, and the gatekeeper of a private school in Sufi Mohalla, Sadhu Ram, allegedly lured her into the school and attempted to sexually assault her. The girl fainted while screaming for help and the gatekeeper locked her in a classroom.
Meanwhile people who had heard the girl’s screams rushed into the school and manhandled the gatekeeper who managed to escape. The people then broke into the classroom, found the unconscious girl and immediately took her to the Pannu Aquil taluka hospital.
After the girl was safely in the hospital, a mob, led by the girl’s father, protested outside the police station. The mob was carrying stones and wooden sticks and they demanded that the culprit be arrested immediately. The police sensed the gravity of situation and on the girl’s father’s complaint, they registered an FIR against Sadhu Ram. He was later found in Rohri and booked and arrested on the charges or allegedly sexually assaulting the young girl.
Pano Akil taluka hospital’s in-charge, Dr Suhrab, told The Express Tribune that the young girl was brought to the hospital while she was unconscious. Dr Rozina performed the girl’s medical examination and samples have been sent to a chemical laboratory in Rohri. He said that the doctor will submit her report once she receives the results.

@SK:
I have simply stated facts from Islamic literature as a support to my view point. Everything else is your imagination and ad hominem attack on your part.
@Jameel: That's what you are taught? This mentality is reflective of your upbringing. Shame on you!
In he last week or so, a christian man was beaten and murdered by a muslim mob outside gujranwala at an annual christian festival (google, can't find the link right now). This happened in pannu aqil including the looting and burning of hindu business's in the flood-struck areas of interior sindh. A boy was hanged upside down with a tree for three hours by a mullah trying to teach him a lesson for not correctly memorizing the quran. Express Tribune did do a blog or story on that (check that out). Yesterday, a man shaved his wife's head and then burned her to death because she apparently "dishonoured" him. The islamist inquisition (pro-feudal) continues. The small minority that can afford to read the tribune should accept the above mentioned fact and try to help the 95 percent of common pakistanis.
@Mr D:
Since the owners of the three burnt houses had nothing to do with alleged molesting, an as yet unproven charge.
@Mr D: It is bigger crime to 3 shops when they dont belong to the culprit. Why is it important what india is doing. Shouldnt we be better person ourselves. Some fanatics disrespected babri mosques in india and almost all our temples were burned to ashes here. India is a seperate country and we are seperate, when will people accept it.
@Woohoo
The Banu Quraiza incident you report relates to a whole tribe who broke a peace treaty with the muslims, plotted against the muslims to have them wiped out which resulted in many muslims losing their lives and had to protect themselves by digging a trench. Even in todays world, the most civilized countries punish treason by death. So the punishment the banu quraiza got was the punishment for treason, Moreover it was given to them according to the rules laid down in the Torah for treason and Banu Quraiza believed in the Torah.
@ET Moderators- I had given a very comprehensive reply to woohoo. Cant understand why it was not published. Please be impartial and have my comments published as well.
@Woohoo Below is my reply to your allegations (my previous reply was more detailed- but not published, hope this one gets published)
Americans are one of the most educated and sophisticated nations in this world. Their attacking Iraq and Afganistan cannot be compared to ignorant clans fighting each other. It has been well planned and well thought out by the US. Moreover none of the 9/11 pilots were Iraqi or Afghan and the flying training they took was in the US and not in any other country. Where did you get the information that a whole tribe was beheaded in a single day? This is absolutely false. The truth is that when the muslims conquered Makkah (peacefully without any resistance) all the tribes of Makkah (non muslims included) were generously forgiven by the Prophet (saw). In all other instances of war in the Prophet (saw)'s time, all the wars occured only when the non muslims plotted against and killed muslims or killed the muslims who were sent to the non muslims, with a message of peace. Booty from War is indeed allowed in Islam. But this is when there is a proper war ordered by the Caliph or Islamic government. Even then there are rules. 20% of the booty is to be given away in charity to the poor. Finally a war can only take place against people who are hindering muslims from telling others about Islam and also forcefully stopping muslims from practicing islam. So war in Islam is to fight off evil and to protect Islam. This booty of a proper war cannot be remotely compared to looting of property. In fact when muslims are ruling a place, all the non muslims living in their land have to be protected by the muslims in return for a Jizya (tax). Before criticizing the Jzya Tax, remember that the muslims also have to pay a tax called Zakat. Both taxes are used to help the poor in society.So Islam is about Justice and fairness (if you unbiasedly study Islam)
So when did torching 3 shops become a more henious crime then molesting a 7 tear girl? I mean if this was a 7 year old Hindu girl then the very same people commenting above would called this an animalistic society and blamed Islam not the person left right and front. What double standards! I can understand if the narrative of 'hindu' property if this was a hate crime against a religious minority. However this was revenge for molesting a 7 year old innocent girl. So why involve religion at all?
@wohoo:
Did you even read what he said? He's talking about a portion of illiterate population using clan system as an excuse to prosecute the weak ones on their own! It's nowhere like having a state-sponsored war declaration on a country
I'm sure the place where you copy-pasted this from did not really tell you what Banu Qurayza did to lead to this, right? I'd leave it up to you to find out so that you could learn something worthwhile.
Well, do YOU know what these two words mean, before using these in context of this event? If you had, you'd know for sure that none of these two apply here. Please do yourself a favor -- don't randomly copy paste crap from the web; do some research before you post. Thanks!
@Babloo: You are talking about first census of 1951, include East Pakistan(current Bangladesh) & legal migration to both sides in the figures. Then Hindus still make around 15% of local Sindhis (means 6% of Sindh province & around 1.5% of whole Pakistan), & give us similar figures about Indian Muslims....!
So, if Americans and the Europeans are a bit clannish in attacking Afghanistan and Iraq, it is understandable?
Guess one should ask banu qurayza abou that. But then, they are all beheaded and dead in one single day!
You do know the word Qazi and ghazwa dont you? And that a booty from a ghazwa is halal?
The matter of understanding and ignorance are quite clear in our context
@Woohoo
Muslims who say that a whole community should not be punished for the actions of a few are absolutely right. and the muslims who have this philosphy would never have been the ones who attacked the entire hindu neighbourhood. Secondly, its not even about religion here. In rural sindh, there is a clan system and if a member of another clan dishonours a woman of another clan- there is a war of clans- whether both the clans are muslims or one clan is of another religion. You need to understand the dynamics of a society before passing ignorant comments on 1.5 Billion muslims as a whole!! A lot of this violence happens due to ignorance (both religious and literary). The people who did this are not good muslims. The govt needs to invest in education for the people - both religious and worldly.
Islam as a religion is about justice and fairness. Killing and looting property is not allowed. In Islam, a criminal has to be punished once his crime is proved beyond reasonable doubt. The punishments in Shariah law are strict because shariah sides with the victim and deals the criminal with an iron hand.
First Understand Islam, before making ignorant comments.
And muslims world over keep telling rest of the world that a whole religion/community must not be persecuted for the actions of a few
Well Hindus / Sikhs , who made about 23% of West Pakistan population in 1947, have already reduced to an into an endangered species of 1% , on way to total elimination.
hindus should be happy that none of their women were raped ...it was just their property ...
so this has to be featured news? i mean it should have been just porperty or do you write muslim property , xyz property when other peopl properties attacked. when do we learn to consider all communities to be our own and stop trying to sell our news on other peoples lives interests. shame on your editorial benchmarks.
i love Our "tolerant" Pakistan.
