PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Malik Naveed said on Wednesday that large scale militancy is not possible without foreign funding.

Addressing a press conference in Peshawar, the IG said militants have their own agenda and want control over the government.

Speaking about the police, Naveed said the department is lacking resources. He also commented on the issue of  some countries being concerned over Pakistan being an atomic power and over its ties with China.

Meanwhile South Waziristan commander Major General Nawaz said that militants have been eliminated from all areas of the agency.

Briefing the media in Dera Ismail Khan on Operation Rah-e-Nijat, Nawaz said the displaced people of South Waziristan will be resettled in a month. He assured full assistance for their repatriation and resettlement.

Nawaz gave these updates when he was in D I Khan to visit the IDP camps set up there for the displaced families of South Waziristan.

Sadia Hussain | 14 years ago | Reply Could the IGP also transpire this information to the foreign office so that we can take up this issue of foreign assistance of militancy at United Nations. However there need to be concrete evidence as unlike us the UN does not fall for conspiracy theories
