MANSEHRA:

A man axed his wife to death in the jurisdiction of Darband Police Station on Tuesday night. The motive behind the murder is reported to be a dispute between the couple, police and family sources said.

Alamzeb, the woman’s brother and a resident of Kul Karori village, told the police that his sister Habibun Nisa, 28, was married to Maroof six years back, and the couple also had three children. He said Maroof had a short temper, and would often subject his wife to domestic violence.

On Tuesday evening, the couple entered into a dispute over some issue, during which Maroof attacked his wife with an axe. As a result, she was critically injured.

The injured was taken to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital, from where she was referred to Ayub Medical Complex Abbottabad. However, she succumbed to her injuries due to a severe injury on her head.

The police registered a criminal case under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code against Maroof, who was later arrested by the police.
