Militant commander killed in Orakzai clashes

KARACHI: Security Forces engaged with militants in Orakzai Agency killed thirteen militants, including a top commander, during clashes on Sunday.

Two hideouts and vehicles belonging to militants were also destroyed during clashes.

Scores of people belonging to the Frontier Region (FR) Peshawar have already left their homes fearing a military operation after militants entered the area in the outskirts of the provincial capital. The locals put the number of those who left their homes at 40,000, but the authorities refute this claim.

According to sources, a large number of militants had moved to the area and that foreigners were also present in the area. He said that a Talib commander visited the village mosque on and assured locals those militants would not do any harm to locals and not destroy government property.

Hundreds of militants have been killed so far in the ongoing operations in Orakzai Agency.
