PESHAWAR:

The Provincial Doctors Association (PDA) here on Monday announced the end of strike in Khyber-Pakthunkhwa (K-P) public hospitals as medical practitioners and young doctors joined their duties.

This was announced by PDA President Dr Shah Sawaar in the presence of Special Health Secretary Noorul Eman Khan at the Press Club after PDA office bearers held successful talks with K-P Health Department officials on the implementation of their six point agenda. Dr Shahsawar said the health department had assured doctors that salary packages would be increased similarly to Punjab. Khan said most of the doctors’ issues have been resolved and appreciated PDA for ending its strike in the public interest.

The College of Physician and Surgeon Peshawar recognised six institutions in February for postgraduate training, namely Saidu Group of Teaching Hospitals, Gomal Medical College, Bacha Khan Medical College, Gastroenterology Unit of LRH, IKD and KCD. This is the first expansion of the postgraduate teaching institutions outside Peshawar in 20 years.
