Chiefs of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence (MI) have been summoned by the Islamabad High Court in connection with the disappearance of a young man from Rawalpindi last week.
The petitioner’s counsel contended that Naeem Younas, a telecom engineer, was picked up by security agency officials from Saddar, Rawalpindi on May 14.
He submitted that the concerned police station refused to register a first information report, in violation of articles 5, 4, 25 of the Constitution.
He maintained that the petitioner and the missing person’s father Muhammad Younas feared that Naeem would be handed over to foreign agencies and requested the court to direct the respondents to produce his son.
The court had earlier directed standing counsel Ishtiaq Malik to submit a reply on May 20. However, standing counsel Raffiuddin appeared on Friday’s hearing and appeared clueless about Naeem’s whereabouts, prompting the court to issue notices to the respondents including director-general (DG) Inter-Services Intelligence, DG Military Intelligence, secretary interior Qamar Zaman, secretary defence Lt-Gen (retd) Athar Ali and station house officer Saddar, Rawalpindi.
