LAHORE: A massive fire broke out in the production unit of the Waves Factory on Multan Road on Friday, causing a loss of millions of rupees. The fire broke out in the afternoon when the workers were busy working. In no time, the fire turned into a huge one. People working inside the units managed to flee.

Five Rescue vehicles rushed to the spot to control the fire. They started their fire-fighting operation but could not succeed due to which re-enforcements were called in.

Fire-fighting vehicles of Rescue 1122, WASA and fire-brigade workers joined the operation. The rescue also called in vehicles from nearby districts. A heavy contingent of police also reached the spot and cordoned off the area. Police helped in clearing the passage so that rescue work was not impeded.

The fire was huge as highly inflammable combustion material was inside it because it was the production unit of the factory.

Rescuers claimed that the fire broke out due to a short-circuit.
