Have you ever wandered off to the edge of your city hoping to find a location using Google Maps? Nothing is worse than reaching a destination but finding no place to park.

Google Maps is offering a remedy for this with an upcoming feature that helps you park around your destination.

The app's latest beta version provides turn-by-turn alerts for the best parking space.

The new feature is included in version 9.44.0, available via APK Mirror download for devices that run on Android 4.3 and up.

Searching for driving directions will now include the parking availability status along with the standard time, and distance estimates with a small "P" icon displaying your chances of finding an open spot in your immediate vicinity.

It's broken down into Easy, Medium or Limited parking categories, emphasising the difficulty of finding a parking spot in a particular region.

At the moment, Google depends on typical traffic patterns for alerts rather than actual location, so the app is unlikely to point you directly to any wide open spot just yet.

However, the feature is expected to get more accurate as parking data is added to Google's existing user tracking features.

As each city has a completely different traffic phenomenon, it will be interesting to see how the tech giant tackles that. One thing is for sure: Google won't be telling you to double park on a crowded street!
