December 25, 2016

A new year means new beginnings so we ask some of the most powerful names in the fraternity to tell us, the one positive change they hope to make in 2017!

“My work has taught me one core thing; one can never really know what motivates and propels someone to do something until you spend time in their shoes. This is why as a filmmaker I hope to create more empathy and tolerance

Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy

“No amount of love is enough. So in 2017 I want to give more love to the people around me, be more compassionate and work even harder in all aspects of my life.”

Mawra Hocane

“If you don’t like it, change it.”

Nabila Maqsood

“To finish all the sprawling projects I started in my 20s!”

Ali Sethi

“I’d like to eat healthier, exercise more and keep a positive mind.”

Frieha Altaf

“I hope for world peace and a flat stomach.”

Kamiar Rokni

“I’d like to workout more in 2017. It sounds like a typical resolution but it’s so necessary, for health and fitness.”

Haiya Bokhari

“I aim to reach my fitness goals in 2017.”

Meher Tareen

“I made a lot of changes in 2016 that I’d like to continue with in 2017. These include reading, writing, lifestyle changes, and doing more things that nourish the soul and make you more present and mindful.”

Meesha Shafi

“I want to differentiate my brands further and completely set them apart from the rest. I aim to keep innovating and keep the industry in a state of forward momentum, which is currently at risk of stagnation, even decline because there is such little originality and so much of the same everywhere. The onus of responsibility lies on a few of the original design houses to ensure dynamism in the Pakistani fashion industry.”

Khadijah Shah

“To be very concious of not succumbing to post-truth fashion or post-truth politics. Enough of the most noise syndrome.”

Fareshteh Aslam

“To work towards finding a better balance between life with my kids and family, and life with my clients.”

Selina Rashid

“I would like to bring fashion back in 2017.”

Maheen Khan

“To become more patient in my personal life and as far as fashion is concerned, I would like to do more for the industry. We have come this far in the last decade — it’s time to take it further.”

Deepak Perwani

“I will try to stress less and enjoy life more.”
