Pilotless U.S. drone aircraft fired four missiles, hitting a house and a vehicle, in North Waziristan tribal region on the Afghan border, killing at least four militants, local intelligence officials said.

According to Express 24/7 correspondent Umer Farooq, the drone strike hit a compound in the Dil Khel Area of the Datta Khel district in North Waziristan, which lies about 30 kilometres west of Miranshah, the capital of North Waziristan.

Miranshah is the main town in the North Waziristan tribal district bordering Afghanistan and it is considered a stronghold of al Qaeda-linked militants.

There was no independent confirmation of the incident as Taliban often deny official account of such incidents and militant strongholds in the lawless tribal belt are out of bound for journalists.
