Bordeaux has been named the world’s best city to visit according to Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2017 list.

Its “gastronomic revolution” and forthcoming high-speed rail line which cuts travel time to Paris to a mere two hours as well as being gorgeous are among the few reasons it has been given the top spot.

Second on the list is Cape Town, thanks to new cultural attractions such as the forthcoming Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa, as well as impressive gastronomy. While Los Angeles came third on the list for its diversity, a recent subway expansion and 50 new hotels in the works.
