ISLAMABAD: The president and prime minister in their messages on Ashura on Tuesday urged the nation to forge unity and harmony, following the teaching of Hazrat Hussain.
President Mamnoon Hussain stressed that the nation must keep aside its internal rifts, groupings and sectarianism and form a united platform to help Pakistan, Islamic Ummah and the world at large to address its lingering problems.
He said the best way to present tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain and his family, was to follow his teachings. The president said it was the only way to resolve the problems of Pakistan, Islamic Ummah and the world at large.
He said “the day of Ashura reminds us of the supreme sacrifices of the martyrs of Karbala and gives us a lesson to lay down one’s life to achieve higher objectives.”
The day, he said, was observed to signify and to take a stance against malice. He said it was, in fact, the highest accomplishment of humanity.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said that the issues pervading the country could be addressed successfully if the nation forged unity and harmony, following the teaching of Hazrat Hussain.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan was achieved to meet the high goals for which the family members of Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be upon Him) sacrificed their lives.
“On this day, we will have to shun our sectarian, ethnic and provincial differences and have to inculcate equality, harmony, discipline and the traits of sacrifice in ourselves. The tragedy of Karbala teaches us the very lesson,” the prime minister remarked.
He said for supremacy of the truth, Imam Hussain preferred sacrificing his life instead of succumbing to oppression. “He [Imam Hussain] gave the world a lesson that freedom was a fundamental right and was in accordance with the true spirit of Islam,” the prime minister added.
He viewed that safeguarding the truth was superior to protection of one’s own life and the martyrdom of Holy Prophet (PBUH)’s grandson gave us the very message.
He said such a sacrifice and steadfastness shown by Hazrat Hussain was unprecedented in the world history and his message was a guiding principle for the whole humanity.
