Karachi Whites batsman makes 300 as team post 625-5 against NBP

Karachi Whites’ Hamza Ghanchi was in devastating form yesterday as he reached his triple century against NBP on the second day of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy second-round match at the NBP Stadium in Karachi yesterday.

Karachi Whites, who had resumed the innings 266-1, added 362 more runs as Ghanchi smashed 32 fours in his unbeaten 470-ball 300-run knock to take his team to 625-5 before the hosts decided to declare.

At the end of play, NBP were 29-2 with Nasir Jamshed on the crease.

Meanwhile, a brilliant 185-run knock by Umar Saddique steered UBL to a strong total of 448 against Lahore Blues at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Azam, Nawaz earn Test call-ups

Saddique smashed 24 boundaries in his 317-ball stay, while Sharjeel Khan made (96) and Saeed bin Nasir (55) contributed with significant knocks.

Lahore Blues were batting on 90-2 at stumps with Waqas Saleem (55) on the crease.

At the Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar, the hosts reached 333 runs at the end of their first innings against SSGC having started the day 287-6. Sahibzada Faran, with his 97-run knock was the top-scorer for the side.

At the end of play, SSGC were 238-1 courtesy Awais Zia’s unbeaten 122-run knock.

Meanwhile, Islamabad’s Shahzad Azam ran riot at the Diamond Ground by claiming seven wickets as the hosts restricted HBL to 168.

Islamabad, who had made 176 in the first innings were unable to capitalise on the collapse as they only posted 145 in the second innings, setting a target of 154 for HBL to chase.

At the end of play, HBL were 15-0.

At the National Stadium of Karachi, WAPDA, who had started the day 271-3, could only add 71 more runs to their first innings’ total following Karachi Blues’ Abdul Ameer’s devastating six-wicket haul.

Karachi Blues were batting on 184-6 at stumps with Muhammad Waqas Jr on the crease.

Meanwhile in other matches, FATA were batting on 234-4 after KRL had posted 352 at the Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot, while Lahore Whites were 5-1 in their second innings having dismissed PIA on 175 at the LCCA Ground in Lahore.
