ISLAMABAD: Brahamdagh Bugti has been a divisive figure even for his own family, a spokesman for the Balochistan government Anwarul Haq Kakar said on Monday.

One can easily see that “he is not a leader to be trusted by the people of Balochistan”, Kakar said.

The grandson of Nawab Akbar Bugti, who claims to spearhead the movement for an independent Balochistan, is known to have instigated terrorist activities in the province.

Data obtained from authentic sources reveals that in the last five years Bugti and his affiliate group had committed close to a thousand acts of terrorism, killing 665 innocent people while injuring 1,440 people of Balochistan. His group has also claimed responsibility for these horrific acts.

Police records show that some 42 FIRs have been registered against Bugti alone, while another 214 FIRs have been registered so far against his outlawed group.

There is clear evidence that his armed militia has been using violence as an instrument against the state of Pakistan -- at the behest of India.

A well-known Baloch leader, who requested not to be named, said Brahamdagh Bugti is an Indian stooge, who has no love or respect for the Baloch people.

He said the international community should take notice of India now that it is giving political asylum to Bugti.

“This decision will encourage terrorism the world over,” he added.

Though India has publicly confessed to supporting Mukti Bahini in East Pakistan and the Liberation of Tamil Elam in Sri Lanka, it still claims to be a victim of terrorism.

No country in the world is willing to risk its credibility by hosting Brahamdagh Bugti. Yet India is ready to host him.

Recently, Switzerland refused to grant him asylum due to his confirmed involvement in acts of terrorism.
