Army chief endorses death sentences of 7 hardcore terrorists

Two TTP militants are also included in the list of those awarded death sentences by military courts, says ISPR

Army chief General Raheel Sharif has endorsed death sentences of seven hardcore terrorists, including two proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants, allegedly involved in committing heinous offences against innocent civilians and personnel of the Pakistan armed forces, the ISPR said on Thursday.

According to the military’s media wing, the suspects, tried by the military courts, were involved in sectarian killings and fire-arms. “Explosives were also recovered from their possession.”

Army chief approves death sentences of 11 TTP militants

Last month, the army chief had approved death sentences of 11 ‘hardcore terrorists’ who were accused of being involved in sectarian killings, kidnappings and slaughtering of civilians and personnel of the Frontier Constabulary and killing of a high-ranking officer of Pakistan Army.

Details of convicts provided by the ISPR 

  1. Muhammad Qasim Tori, son of Muhammad Farooq (active member of a proscribed organization; involved in attacking LEAs)

  2. Abid Ali s/o Muhammad Ramzan (active members of a proscribed organization; involved in attacking LEAs)

  3. Muhammad Danish, son of Noor Bux (active member of a proscribed organisation; involved in attacking LEAs)

  4. Syed Jehangir Haider, son of Syed Karam Haider (involved in sectarian killings; involved in sectarian killings and attacking LEAs)

  5. Zeeshan, son of Mureed Abbas (involved in sectarian killings and attacking LEAs)

  6. Mutabar Khan, son of Parvanat Khan (active members of the TTP; involved in attacking the army, LEAs and killing a member of peace committee)

  7. Rehmanud din, son of Moamer (active member of the TTP; involved in attacking the army, LEAs and killing a member of peace committee)
