Blames weak foreign policy for a slew of diplomatic setbacks in the recent past

SUKKUR: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah on Sunday advised his fellow politicians not to prejudge MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar and instead allow him time to match his words with actions.

Ending days of ambiguity over its relationship with Altaf Hussain, the MQM-Pakistan led by Dr Farooq Sattar finally came out in public on Saturday and dissociated itself from the London-based supremo.

“It won’t take long before people will realise whether he (Dr Farooq Sattar) is still associated with Altaf or not,” Shah said while welcoming Sattar’s announcement.

Talking to the media at the Civil Hospital, the opposition leader said the PPP did not utter a single word against the country’s integrity even in the immediate aftermath of the tragic death of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and instead raised the slogans of “Pakistan Khappay (Long live Pakistan)”.

However, it was unfortunate that anti-Pakistan slogans were raised from the platform of a party that claims to represent those who have sacrificed their blood for the country.

Shah also blamed a weak foreign policy for a slew of diplomatic setbacks in the recent past and said “it has turned all neighbouring countries against us”.



On the occasion, he also announced that the PPP will hold rallies in September to apprise people about the wrongdoings of the government.

He said though the Civil Hospital is currently facing a shortage of doctors, he expected the facility to overcome it shortly. Still, he said, there is much to be done to improve health facilities there.

He said the state is responsible for providing better education and health facilities to the people.

Earlier, in the wake of Shah’s visit, the hospital administration sprang into action, utilised all sanitation staff to thoroughly clean the hospital. Moreover, bed-sheets in all wards were also replaced with fresh ones to impress the opposition leader.
