MULTAN: Police on Friday claimed to have arrested a man who allegedly murdered his wife to grab her property. A Tulamba police spokesman told The Tribune that Umar Hayat, a resident of Charagh Shah in Mian Channu, had asked his wife to sell her land a few weeks ago but she was unwilling to do so. The spokesman said the couple argued over this issue on Friday. Later, Hayat hit his wife with a brick. He said the woman died on the spot. The spokesman said an FIR had been registered against Hayat on the complaint of Ali Imran, brother of the deceased.

Talking to The Tribune, Imran said his brother-in-law had been unemployed for several months. “Lately, he had been insisting that she sell her property and hand over the cash from the sale to him to invest in business.”
