KARACHI: Police claimed on Friday to have arrested three suspects allegedly involved in the murder of a trader in Lyari.

The suspects, Sarwar, Raheem alias Langra and Shaukat alias Pera, were arrested during raids in the old city area. Their arrests were disclosed during a press conference by City SSP Faizullah Korejo at his office on Friday. SSP Korejo said the suspects had killed a trader, Bakhti Rehman, over resistance to a robbery a few days ago in Nayabad, Lyari. The police first apprehended Sarwar and later arrested the two others.

SSP Korejo said that the suspects belonged to the Baba Ladla group of a Lyari-based gang and were involved in various cases of crime. Separately, the police claimed to have arrested an accused, Nabi Buksh, from the old city area. Police officials said the accused has been involved in various cases of extortion. Cases against all the suspects were registered and further investigations are under way.
