Entrepreneur Taiba Malik invites us into her home to share a special corner with us, her cherished lounge

Entrepreneur Taiba Malik, started her remarkable journey into the business world at the age of 18 with her husband, a pharmaceutical industrialist and the owner of Uniesco. She invites us into her home to share a special corner with us, her cherished lounge

As we enter Taiba Malik’s home, we are immediately taken by her world of interior bliss and grandeur, spread throughout the structure. She leads us to her favourite corner, a lounge embellished in white, gold and nude tones. It is the main part of the house, where Malik prefers to engage with her friends and family. She feels the room is an expression of her, and represents her original style.

A set of sofas surrounds both sides of the room. We spot a white marble console with gold edgings, which has a mirror placed above it. Covering the wall behind it is veined wallpaper. On the other side of the room is a white marble bar with matching bar stools, and another ceiling-length mirror, reflecting on a corner in the room where an elegant grand piano sits.

When we ask about the colour scheme, she expresses that she isn’t a fan of bright colours, but rather dull and nude shades, such as gold and white. She shares that she decorated her home in a way that defines her and her pleasures in life. The room is primarily furnished from Malik’s much-loved furniture store, Wing Chair, while other pieces, such as the throw pillows and the festive rugs are from Dubai’s Petals and Turkey. “It’s all a mixture,” she says. We question Malik about how she managed to import these beautiful items, and she jokingly responds, “Don’t ask. My husband wanted to kill me for this, but he deserves to.” Malik claims the vases are her favourite pieces in the room. The beautiful vases with endearing cupids in a mosaic design originate from Turkey and have a renaissance feel to them. “I am particularly fond of my bar area and the candle stands,” she adds.

This room is where she starts and ends her day. Her daily routine starts with feeding the fish here in the morning, picking up a few dates and leaving for the gym. We glance at the infamous table where Malik keeps her selection of drinks, dates and fresh fruits. A V-shaped cocktail glass, containing goldfish, is on the table, accompanied by two gorgeous statutes. The room is cosy yet fancy enough to host guests and enjoy a cup of tea. She smilingly says: “I love to eat and this room is where I indulge. This corner soothes me and I feel right at home here.”
