ABBOTTABAD: A woman has accused her lover of raping her in a village of Havelian tehsil.

An official of Havelian police told The Express Tribune, the 18-year-old was in love with Chaudhry Mohsin Abbas.

“Abbas had promised to marry her,” he said. “On the afternoon of August 1, his sister, Mehvish, who used to facilitate their meetings, invited the woman to their house.”

According to the police official, the 18-year-old said Abbas locked her inside a room when she arrived at his house and raped her.

“The 18-year-old informed the police about the incident,” he said. “When she raised her voice against the heinous crime, Abbas and his family vowed to send her a marriage proposal.”

However, things took a turn for the worst, when the family started threatening her of dire consequences. This forced her to register a complaint against them on August 12.
