A 15-day coaching session for 600 students from all over the country under the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) National Outreach Programme (NOP) ended on Saturday.
Talking to The Express Tribune, several participants said the coaching session had improved their preparation for the scholastic aptitude tests.
Nayab, a participant from Gojal, Gilgit-Baltistan, said she had been deeply impressed by respect for new ideas among students and faculty at the LUMS. “I will apply for admission at the School of Sciences and Engineering at the university after passing my intermediate examination,” she said. Abdul Jaleel, a participant from Qila Saifullah, Balochistan, said he wanted to sit the Central Superior Services (CSS) examination. “I will apply to the bachelor’s degree programme in political science at the LUMS,” he said. He said he had finished middle school at a school near his village and then proceeded for further studies on scholarship at a school in Abbotabad. Other participants said they were impressed with the diversity in the student body.

The participants selected this year had belonged to Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Loralai, Zhob, Turbat, Rakhni, Pishin, Gilgit, Swabi, Charsadda, Mardan, Mathelo, Karachi, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Hasilpur and Bhakkar districts.
