BARCELONA: Barcelona center-back Javier Mascherano has agreed a new contract extension that will keep him at Camp Nou for three more years.

The 32-year-old joined Barcelona in 2010 from Liverpool, initially as a midfielder, but adapted the role of a central defender very well with his partner Gerard Pique.

The Argentine has made 51 appearances for Luis Enrique’s side during the 2015-16 last season, winning yet another La Liga title.

Mascherano was rumored to be linked with a switch to Juventus but will face competition from the new signing Samuel Umtiti next season.
