Make-up artist Anna Jawad breaks down her classic yet contemporary style and even reveals some of her styling secrets.

Understanding your body is the key to looking good and a trait found amongst all impeccably dressed fashionistas. While people shy away from talking about their bodies, these brave souls explain how they work their bodies to their advantage

How would you describe your body type?

Slim and tall.

Has your body type changed over the last five years?

My body type has been the same for as long as I can remember.

How has your style changed over the years?

One’s personal style hardly ever changes — if it does, then it’s not really one’s own style! For me, style is all about looking one’s best with the least amount of effort. I totally believe in ‘less is more’.

In your opinion what is your most troublesome area?

I may sound arrogant, but I have been blessed with a good body so I don’t have a single area that I count as troublesome, be it my height or my physique!

How do you dress your body according to your body type?

Since I am tall and slim I avoid wearing body-hugging clothes — that’s not my style. I prefer wearing loose tops with baggy pants or skinny jeans and I absolutely love wearing long, formal dresses.

In your opinion what is the biggest mistake a person can make while dressing here?

Matching everything from head to toe has to be the biggest fashion faux pas that a person can make.

Which silhouettes suit your body the most?

I think it’s more about your personality than the silhouette. Style is all about being comfortable, if you’re comfortable you feel confident and at the end that’s the most important thing. I absolute love wearing oversized clothes and making them look edgy. I never go overboard with colours, cuts or trends. My outfit should never be wearing me.

What is the one piece of clothing that you shy away from wearing and why?

As much as I love saris, I often tend to shy away from wearing them as I feel I won’t be comfortable in them. For me, being comfortable is the most important factor in looking and feeling your best!
