PESHAWAR:

Thousands of toy guns were confiscated and destroyed by the district administration on Monday.

The move was part of the ban on sale and purchase of toy guns that was imposed by the administration a few days ago.

“We have arrested 32 people who were involved in the business of selling toy guns,” Peshawar Additional DC Irshad Sodhar said while speaking to journalists.

He added the district administration started an operation against the sale of toy guns and sealed 55 warehouses in Karkhano Market.

He maintained the police also confiscated 88 cartons in which thousands of toy guns were placed.

“The ban on sale and purchase of toy guns has been imposed as the toy creates negative behaviour in children,” Sodhar pointed out. He added the police had been given the authority to arrest those who were found selling such items and fireworks.
