KARACHI: While the release of Revenge of the Worthless may still be more than a fortnight away, the Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) appears to have wasted no time in approving the film.

According to an official of the CBFC, the Jamal Shah-directed movie has been cleared uncut. Talking to The Express Tribune, he elaborated upon the decision. “Our priority is to try and ensure that local films are issued a release certificate without any excisions,” he said, requesting anonymity.

The movie has been reviewed nearly three weeks before its release date on July 22, while the Salman Khan-starrer, Sultan that is slated to premiere on Eidul Fitr next week, is yet to be viewed by the CBFC. “We are yet to receive a request to censor the movie [Sultan]. Once we have it, our panel review it,” he added.

‘Revenge of the Worthless’ to release end of April

Revenge of the Worthless has only been cleared by the CBFC, with the Punjab Board of Film Censors (PBFC) yet to receive a request to preview the movie. Despite repeated attempts, no official from the Sindh Board of Film Censors (SBFC) was available for comment.

Produced under the banner of Hunerkada Films, Revenge of the Worthless depicts the struggles of a few unsung heroes during the 2009 Swat insurgency. The film features an ensemble cast of actors Jamal Shah, Firdous Jamal, Maira Khan, Shamil Khan and Ayub Khosa.
