PESHAWAR: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa finance department has prepared a document called Citizen Budget so that public can be informed on budget-making. The K-P government has been preparing this document back for the past two years to present the budget-related information to the citizens having no financial background. It was introduced in financial year 2014-15. It is meant to enable people to effectively exercise their right to public scrutiny of state representatives, access to information and provision of quality services. The booklet reflects the impact on and importance of the budget for various sections of the society. For example if Rs111 billion is spent on education in K-P in the financial year 2016-17, the document will show its results on the province. The broader contents of the booklet are sections on economic assumptions underlying the budget, the budget process and revenue collection.
