Judicial complex being constructed in Multan

It is being built on 100 acres of land

MULTAN: Commissioner Captain (r) Asadullah Khan said at a meeting on Tuesday that the construction of a new judicial complex was underway. “We have allotted a large tract of land for it.”

He said they had plans to ensure that the complex would have all the facilities and amenities a proper town has. Additional land would be procured to build a commercial centre on, Khan said. There would also be a centre for recreational activities, he said.

The commissioner said that the government would collaborate with a private business to construct a multi-storey building to house chambers.

He said there would be proper landscaping of the judicial complex. Consumer courts and others would be shifted to the judicial complex once it’s complete, he said.

At the meeting, District and Sessions Judge Qaisar Nazir Butt said recommendations pertaining to the new judicial complex would be sent to the Lahore High Court chief justice for approval.

Lawyers’ representatives said the present judicial complex had 1,100 lawyers’ chambers. They said they wanted another 1,100 chambers at the new judicial complex.

Buildings District Officer Zubair Latif said the new judicial complex was being built on 100 acres of land at an estimated cost of Rs590 million. He said the construction of 12 courts of additional district and session judges, a senior civil judge and 24 courts of civil judges at the new judicial complex was complete. The construction of houses for judges and adjoining roads was also complete, he said. He said gas and electricity connections would be provided soon and more courtrooms would be added.

District and Session Judges Qaisar Nazir Butt, RPO Sultan Azam Taimoori, DCO Nadir Chattha, CPO Azhar Akram, Multan Development Authority Additional Director General Altaf Hussain Sariyo and Multan Division Development and Finance Director Rana Rizwan Qadeer also attended the meeting.
