New buildings: Rs18.7b reserved for judiciary

Rs31.5 million has been reserved for the construction of a judicial complex in Lahore

LAHORE: A development budget of Rs18.7 billion has been announced for judiciary this year. Most of the amount will be spent on the construction of judges’ residences and judicial complexes.

According to the budget document, Rs400 million has been allocated for the construction of court buildings and Rs200 million for the construction of residential facilities for judicial officers across the province.

Rs40 million will be spent on the renovation of court buildings. Rs30million has been reserved for the construction of a record room and an office block at a parking plaza on Fane Road in Lahore.

Rs40 million has been allocated for the construction of boundary walls around several civil and sessions courts, Rs 50 million for addition or alteration to the Lahore High Court buildings, Rs50 million for the construction of lawyers’ chambers at a judicial complex in Lahore, Rs50 million for the construction of a judicial complex in Sangla Hill, Rs100 million for the construction of a judicial complex in Kamoke, Rs75million for the construction of buildings of district and sessions judge court, additional district and sessions judge courts, senior civil judge courts and civil judges courts in Gujrat, and Rs82 million for the construction of a judicial complex in Quaidabad, Khushab.

Rs31.5 million will be spent on the construction of a judicial complex in Lahore, Rs28.3 million on the construction of a complex for family, guardian courts in Lodhran, Rs21.1 million on the construction of a complex for family, guardian courts in Khanewal, Rs25 million on the construction of a complex for family, guardian courts in Dera Ghazi Khan.

Rs57.5 million has been earmarked for the construction of an additional district and sessions judge court and a civil judge court in Pakpattan, Rs75 million for the construction of a judicial complex (non-residential portion) in Shujabad, Rs25.9 million for the construction of a judicial complex in Kallar Syedan, Rawalpindi, Rs86.1 million for the construction of 30 residences for judicial officers in Civil Lines, Rawalpindi, Rs11 million for the construction of a judicial complex (residential portion) in Pind Dadan Khan, Rs8million for the construction of residences for additional district and sessions judges and for civil judges in Mianwali, Rs 20million for the construction of judges’ suites in Rawalpindi’s Judicial Colony, Rs17.4 million for the construction of an additional block of a guesthouse for the personal staff of judges at Lahore High Court’s Multan Bench, and Rs50 million for the construction of a judicial complex at Kot Momin.

Rs 32.8 million has been reserved for the construction of a building for the Faisalabad district public prosecutor office, Rs6m for the construction of a building for the public prosecutor office at Model Town courts, Lahore, and Rs5.7 million for the construction of a building for the public prosecutor office at Lahore district courts.
