Official sources said that an explosive device attached to the oil tanker caused the blast some 80 kilometres north of Quetta, in old Chaman.
Although the tanker was completely destroyed, no casualty was caused by the massive explosion.
Police registered a case against unidentified assailants and investigations into the incident are underway.
