Cas open: Championship commences on Thursday

Islamabad’s four-time defending champion Shabbir Iqbal will start tournament as a favourite

Some of Pakistan’s top golfing talent will be on display when the 35th Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Open Golf Championship tees off on Thursday at the Airmen Golf Club in Karachi.


The qualification round and trials for the senior’s event will be held in the two days preceding the tournament with 58 qualifiers to be selected to compete in the main event with the country’s top 30 golfers.


In the professional event, Islamabad’s four-time defending champion, Shabbir Iqbal, will be the man to beat.


Golfer Baloch bags title and Rs461,100

The total prize money for the professionals has been set at Rs3.2 million, while the winner of the junior professional and senior professional event will get Rs150,000 each.


In addition to the professionals, seniors and juniors events, the four-day CAS Open will also hold events in the amateurs, ladies, masters and invitees categories.
