LAKKI MARWAT:

Residents of Lakki Marwat protested the alleged ill-treatment of the public by Government City Hospital doctors on Wednesday. The demonstration was held at Punjab Shahra due to which traffic was blocked for several hours.

Hundreds of protesters from various villages came together and organised a rally from Langar Khel to Machan Khel bus stop.

The demonstration gathered more steam at Qazi Ishfaq crossroad, where more supporters joined in. People en route to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa from Punjab Highway and vice versa were stuck in traffic for hours.

The protest was led by Marwat Qaumi Jirga chief Aslam Khan, MPA Munawar Khan and others. Speaking on the occasion, the leaders said Government City Hospital doctors have a mean attitude towards patients.

They added the doctors treat their profession
like a business instead of acting like healers.

“The doctors are barely present at the hospital to provide treatment to patients – they are found at their own private clinics, making money during hospital hours,” one of the protest leaders said.
